Outdoor spaces Hilversum

Project: Town house Hilversum
Omslag Hilversum outdoor.pngThis town house dating back to 1921 in Hilversum was already one of its kind. Most of the original details like the stained glass and wood carving were well-preserved, since the house was in the family of the previous owner for three generations. Because the interior was quite outdated the new owners, a young couple, were in need for a plan to completely re-design all the spaces of their new home. So, we came up with a plan, which included color advice, a personalized floor plan with lay out proposal, paint & wall coverings proposals, a complete furniture proposal, window treatment advice, a lighting plan and bespoke floor tile designs for the kitchen and outdoor spaces.

For the outdoor patio a bespoke tile design was made as well. Large square light grey tiles with surrounding dark grey smaller rectangular clinker tiles follow the diagonal line of the house. In the front yard the border was made smaller in order to create more space and the original pavers were supplemented with new similar ones and laid in a round shape following the original design. For the patio a tailor-made lounge sofa, bench and dining area were created from scaffolding wood and were given a whitewash finish. The, also tailor-made, seat cushions are made with a weatherproof Sunbrella fabric. And we added some decorative handmade pillows to match them. The outdoor window frames went from dark green to black to better match the 1920’s art deco style.
