2 kid’s bedrooms with a Jack and Jill bathroom

Project: Jonas IJburg Amsterdam

What a project this was. A new-build apartment in the sustainable Jonas building in Amsterdam, overlooking the water. The layout of the apartment was still to be determined and this South-African couple had a special request for their 2 young children. They were to get their own shared bathroom, preferable in the middle of their 2 bedrooms, also called a Jack and Jill bathroom. We can do that. (Text will continue below the images.)

We chose a color scheme of 7 colors in total for the entire apartment, which together form a beautifully coherent whole, reminiscent of nature and culture in South Africa as well as the history of the Netherlands and the canals in Amsterdam. For the children’s rooms we did mainly use the gray-blue color hero’s time in combination with the sand color sensational sand. A walnut floor will be laid throughout the house, which will bring back the warm brown hue in all rooms. (Text will continue below the images.)

The materials we chose for the apartment had a natural and pure appearance are combined with luxurious upholstery with beautiful patterns and textures. Also sustainability has been taken into account as much as possible in the use of materials. In addition, the upholstery choices took into account the use of natural materials, such as cotton, linen and wool. We also used suppliers who attach great importance to sustainability, such as Vestingh paint and Mastello sanitary facilities. (Text will continue below the images.)

Of course we wanted the kid’s rooms also to be fun and therefore included 2 different kinds of wallpaper with animals and playful furniture, light fixtures and carpets. We created in each room a bespoke wardrobe with build-in desk, using Decolegno decor chipboard. In the joint ensuite bathroom we used blue and white Mosa tiles in a unique pattern.
